Signs you need a plumber

  • Weak water from every tap
  • The pressure drops when two taps are open
  • The pump starts on its own with every tap closed
  • Banging in the pipes when you close a tap
  • A well or water tank that does not refill

What the plumber does

  • Finds whether the problem is the supply, the pipes or the pump
  • Repairs or replaces pressure pumps and tanks
  • Fits a pressure reducer where the pressure is too high
  • Looks for leaks that keep a pump running

Before the plumber comes

  1. Ask a neighbour if their pressure is low too.

  2. Check that the main stopcock is fully open.

  3. Take a photo of the label on the pump, if you have one.

What it costs

Every plumber sends a written price, with IVA, before any work starts. You can compare up to three.

Frequently asked questions

Is low pressure my problem or the water company's?

If your neighbours have it too, contact your municipality's water company. If it is only your home, the cause is usually in your own pipes.

Why does my pump keep switching on?

Usually a small leak, or the pressure tank has lost its air. Both are common, and both can be fixed.

Can the pressure be too high?

Yes. Very high pressure strains taps and pipes. A pressure reducer after the meter solves it.
